Instagrammable Spots of Los Angeles- Paul Smith Pink Wall

If you’re visiting Los Angeles or have been a long time resident, you know that Los Angeles is FILLED with photo hot spots- the famous Hollywood sign, the palm trees that line the streets of Beverly Hills, the Downtown LA skyline, etc. C’mon, we all have been guilty of taking at least one (or a million) of these shots and posting them on our social media.

So I’ve decided to start a series of blog posts that pertain to Instagrammable Spots of Los Angeles. The first stop is the Paul Smith Pink Wall.

8221 Melrose Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90046

This magenta pink wall (or rather entire building) has become a social media sensation. Both tourists and locals frequent this location year-round. So here are a couple of tips if you ever choose to visit this Instagram phenomenon-

Get there early

THIS PLACE GETS PACKED. So if your goal is to achieve a photoshoot without having to wait or having other people in the background of your photo, get there early.

Don’t bring professional cameras

One of the only rules about taking photos here is that you are not allowed to do so with a professional camera (so basically only phones are allowed).  Every time I’ve visited this wall, there has been a security guard stationed outside making sure this rule is followed. Trust me, he will call you out and ask you to leave if you bust out that Canon or Nikon.

Best days to visit are cloudy days

If you go midday the sun can get super bright which in my opinion makes it a little difficult to get a shot without avoiding some type of body or face shadow (or being blinded by the sun). So from experience, I prefer to visit on cloudy days. Below are my comparisons of taking pictures on a sunny versus a cloudy day. But that’s my personal option, it’s whatever you stylistically prefer.

Wear a fun outfit

About 99.9% of the people that visit this place are not there to visit the actual inside of the Paul Smith store. Let’s be honest we’re all there to take pictures of the outside. So wear a fun outfit, bust out that funky hat or rock some cool shades. Trust me, you won’t regret it when you get that awesome shot.

Hope you all enjoyed this new series!  I promise I will keep them coming!

If you have any suggestions for places you would like to see me write about please comment below- I always love hearing your feedback! 🙂
